12. Q. Is there Heaven and Hell?
A. Heaven is to enjoy the pleasure of God. Hell is to suffer
the anger of God. Certainly they exist. In Bhagavat
Geetha Lord Krishna says:
trividham narakasyedam
dvaram naasanam atmanaha
kaamah krodha tatha lobha
tasmad etatrayam tyajet
Roads to hell are jammed inspite of three highways. They are Kaama, Krodha and Lobha, i.e., Desire, Anger and Greed. As we certainly do not want to be on the way to hell we should give up these three highways and do Nishkaama Karma by praying sincerely and thus choose the alternative, most desirable, least trodden path to Heaven.
Once a nine year old boy asked
Boy -: Swamiji, have you ever seen heaven or hell?
Swamiji -: (Surprised) Have you seen America?
Boy -: Well, I have not seen America but I know it exists.
Swamiji -: How do you know?
Boy -: Seeing in the Atlas & informed by teachers.
Swamiji -: Well, we have been informed by our Rishis, Acharyas & Vedas about the existence of heaven and hell.
Boy -: People from America are visiting India. Is there any evidence like that from hell & heaven.
Swamiji -: Fortunately not, we have hardly space and food for those on this earth and if only those who departed return we will be in great trouble.
