17th Manthram:
va:yuranilam amrutham
adhe:dam bhasmantham sari:ram |
o:m kratho:! smara krutham smara
kratho! smara krutham smara ||
This manthram continues the prayer started in the 16th manthram. It means:
'O God! Thou art vayu and anila (wind) and amrutha (eternal). I am also eternal. When this athma of mine leaves this body of mine, the body joins the fire and perishes. The body is perishable but my athma is imperishable and eternal. Thou art the master of both. Thou art eternal I am also eternal; the difference is Thou art the macrocosm and I am but microcosm. O Bhagavan! Thou art called with OM. Thou art also described as krathu. Thou knowest what I have done. I am weak and cannot remember Thee and reach Thee. Hence, O God! please remember me. I will be saved only when Thou rememberest me. I don't know whether I have done anything to reach Thee. But thou knowest it better than I do. So God remember my deeds also at least once. Thou art rightly called 'krithajna'.
