15th Manthram:
hiranmaye:na pa:thre:na
sathyasya:sihitham mukham |
thathwam pu:shannapa:vrunu
sathya dharma:ya drushtaye: ||
From this 15th manthram to the 18th manthram, it is explained how jiva ought to pray to the Paramathma in order to achieve the result he seeks. This manthram literally means that the doorway, i.e., manas of jivathma (sathyam) is closed by a golden bowl, i.e., the worldly desires and associations of karma. That is, he is kept away from God within (which are attractive as gold) and hence, the jivathma has to pray to 'the Sun' (God or Paramathma) to remove that cover or door that has closed the mind (or manas) because the mind is the doorway to the soul (i.e, athma or jivathma).
Jiva has to pray to the Paramathma for the latter's mercy. The mind should be under the control to do this. But strangely the mind always lured towards worldly things, under the influence of the sensory organs and fails to understand the existence and nature of the athma within himself. Different colours, smells, tastes and sensory pleasures. Instead of acting under the command of their master, viz., the mind, overpower it and incapacitate the mind to see the athma. But the knowledge of the athma is possible only through the mind. In other words, to realize the truth of athma, the mind should be set free, the external and sensory influences, associations and attractions. Is this possible? Can the mind anchor itself on its own? No. This is possible only to Him who created and fostered the mind. Therefore, to bring the mind under control, man or jivathma has to pray to the Paramathma to set the mind free from the external physical influences. Such a prayer ought to be directed to attain the ability to realize and become one with the Paramathma. This is the purport of the 15th manthram.
