Hayagriva Swami! Your sacred palm in the mudra of Upades is brilliant and beautiful to behold. You grant great talent and strength to Your devotees. Our mind is like a lampstand; our knowledge the wick therein. The sa:sthraic theories enunciated with knowledge are the light of the lamp. The lamp can be lit only by adding ghee or oil to it. The only ghee in it is Your companionship. This is like the fat in ghee or oil. The wick lights up when there is fat but gets extinguished when the fat is no more. The same thing happens if there is too much ghee. Then, it becomes necessary to adjust the wick. In other cases, some more ghee is to be added. The benign posture of Your palm makes our talent and knowledge brighten. Not just that, Your palm itself is a kalpavruksha. The mudra of Your palm is like the branches which spring from that tree. Kalpavruksha can grant only material wishes but Your palm bestows knowledge which none else can give.

This slo:kam is to be recited by those who wish to improve their memory and study new subjects.
